How do I fix sync problems in Noted?

Published on Last updated

Short answer

Check that every device is signed into the same iCloud account with iCloud Drive on, has free iCloud storage and a working connection, then open Noted on each device to trigger a sync. If notes are still missing, sign out of iCloud and back in.

Noted syncs all your notes and notebooks to iCloud automatically. Syncing issues are rare to occur, but in the off-chance that they do, we have some troubleshooting steps you can take to identify the causes and solve the issues:

Setup (Requirements)

Sync on Noted works out of the box, meaning it doesn’t require any further steps, though there are a few requirements in order for this to work:

  • All devices must be signed into the same iCloud account
  • iCloud Drive must be turned on and enabled for ‘Noted’
  • You must have sufficient cloud storage

Are my notes actually syncing?

If you’re not sure whether sync is working, you can always check the last successful sync in Settings > Sync > Status. Here’s what you may see means:

  • Never – Sync has not been set up for Noted. Please check the requirements before restarting the app to try again.
  • … minutes ago – You’re good! However, if the duration does not reflect your last activity, there might be some issues connecting to iCloud. Please check you have a working connection and try again.

Tip: On iOS, you can pull to refresh at the Notebooks screen to manually resync.

Sync suddenly stopped working…

Most users find that the following methods address most sync issues:

  • Signing out and back in to iCloud
  • Turning iCloud Drive off and back on, then restart the app.
  • Restarting the device.

What if none of these steps worked?
